Diya Ghar
Diya Ghar is Great Galleon’s holistic community welfare project, including education, healthcare, and family welfare, based in Karnataka.
Migrant workers play a big role in building and running our cities, and industries. Through initiatives like Diya Ghar, we aim to build and support up theirs and their children’s lives.
We offer the following services through Diya Ghar:
The project grew significantly in 2021. From just 3 communities and about 135 migrant children in 2020, Diya Ghar has reached 11 communities and over 550 migrant children in 2021. We grew from a team of a few teachers and community champions to include over 35 members in 2021. We ended the year on a strong note by adding 4 new migrant communities from Bellandur, Kempapura, Munekolal and Thubarahalli with 200 or more children who will shortly start learning at one of our centres!
It has been an amazing year of stretching boundaries and dreaming big! We are happy to have been able to bring the 'Joy of Learning' to all these children and hope to expand our initiative to even more communities over successive years.
